Do I actually need one?
No, and we would rather say so. Silk survives a machine better than its reputation suggests. What it does not survive is being dragged against a zip or wound around an agitator, and that is the whole argument for a few dollars here.
Can it go in the machine?
Yes, on a cool delicate cycle, and it comes out fine. Air dry it afterwards rather than putting it through a tumble dryer.
